Youth Shelter Fire being Investigated as Arson16-3642
After investigation and consultation with Kingston Fire & Rescue and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM), detectives with the Kingston Police Major Crime Unit are treating the weekend fire of the local youth shelter as an arson.
Shortly after 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6th Kingston Fire & Rescue first attended the shelter, located at 234 Brock Street, and extinguished a fire located in a second-floor bedroom. Impaired Driver Arrested after Denied Service at The Beer Store
A 50-year-old local man has been arrested and charged by Kingston Police for impaired driving and being over the legal limit of alcohol after he was denied service by Beer Store staff.
At approximately 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, February 6th Beer Store staff at the 234 Concession Street location denied service to the man as he was showing obvious signs of intoxication. The man was observed leaving in a vehicle and an employee called Kingston Police.
